Gabriela Galvão (São Paulo, 1995) is an independent artist and economist, graduated from the University of São Paulo. She is currently completing a dual degree that began at FGV in São Paulo, focusing on Professional Administration, and is concluding in Tokyo with an emphasis on Public Policy. Her thesis explores how to price the work of emerging artists. Additionally, she is a postgraduate student in Contemporary Artistic Practices at FAAP and a member of the Grupo Mulheres do Brasil.
Her artistic journey began while studying Political Science at Sciences Po in Paris, where she developed an interest in visual arts. Her artistic research explores the subtle forms of violence women experience daily, particularly in the workplace. Her work engages with the urban context of São Paulo and the anxieties of modern life.
Currently, she lives in Tokyo, where she is developing a body of work focused on expressions and emotions tied to the experience of living in the city. Throughout her career, she has experimented with various mediums, including collage, ballpoint pen drawings, watercolor, lambes, and digital design. At present, she primarily works with acrylic paint. In addition to her artistic practice, she works as an administrative consultant mostly for fashion industry and seeks to navigate the intersections of art, economics, and politics—fields that shape her interests and creative production.
